How Great Home Are Really Built
April 27, 2026
When people think about building or renovating a home, they often focus on the big decisions like architectural plans, construction timelines, furnishings and finishes. But the success of a project isn’t defined by any one of those things alone. It’s defined by how well the people behind them work together.

The Roles (and Where They Overlap)
Every successful home is shaped by three key players.
The architect defines the structure and overall vision. They think about how the home flows, how it lives within its surroundings, and how space is experienced.
The builder brings that vision to life, managing construction, coordinating trades, and ensuring that what’s drawn can be executed with precision.
The interior designer ensures the home is not only beautiful, but livable. We consider how each space will function, feel, and evolve long before the first material is installed.
While each role is distinct, the best results happen in the overlap.

Where Projects Can Break Down
Decisions are made in silos. Details get missed. Opportunities for cohesion are lost. A window placement that doesn’t account for furniture. A lighting plan that doesn’t align with how a space will be used. A material selection that wasn’t considered early enough to be executed properly. That’s where we come in.

Our Role: Bridging the Entire Process
At Blair Burton Interiors, our role extends beyond design. We act as the connector between architect, builder, and client by bringing clarity, consistency, and cohesion to every phase of the project. We collaborate early, often while plans are still being developed. We think through sightlines, materials, and functionality before construction begins. And we ask the questions that prevent costly changes later.
Over the years, we’ve worked alongside respected teams like Vanguard Studio Inc., Dalgleish Construction, Mark Richardson Architects, and Emerald Crest Development—partners who share our commitment to thoughtful collaboration and exceptional execution. Because when the right team is aligned from the start, the process feels seamless, and the result speaks for itself.
A well-designed home isn’t just built. It’s brought together, intentionally, by the people behind it.
